Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Ajinkya Rahane did not comment on the Eden Gardens track after their loss to Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday, April 8. This was their third loss in five games this season, with two coming at home.

KKR lost their season opener against RCB at home and now against LSG again by just four runs. The match saw 472 runs in 40 overs being scored, with the Knight Riders falling short by just one hit in the end. They lost the match by just four runs against LSG in the high-scoring contest.

After KKR's third loss of the season, Ajinkya Rahane, in the post-match press conference, refrained from making any comments on the Eden pitch. He had a big argument with Eden curator Sujan Mukherjee with Rahane requesting spinning tracks to avail home advantage, while the same was not provided to him by the curator.

Main Kuch Bolunga To Bawaal Ho Jayega: Ajinkya Rahane On Pitch Controversy

After the game, Rahane stayed away from making any comment on the pitch, saying that it would create unnecessary controversy.

"There have been enough talks over the wicket here. Main kuch bolunga to bawaal ho jayega (If I say anything, it'll lead to a big controversy)" Rahane said.

He further added, saying that he will talk to the concerned authority if he has anything to say or point out going forward about the Eden track. He was visibly very unhappy with KKR not getting a home advantage in terms of pitch conditions.

"Let's just keep it that way. Our curator has got a lot of publicity. I think he's happy with that publicity. You can write whatever you want about the home advantage. If I feel something, I'll tell the IPL rather than talking here. I'll talk to the concerned authorities."

KKR's previous win at home was against SRH. They won the game by 80 runs in the end, bowling out Sunrisers Hyderabad for 120 runs, who were chasing 201 runs to win. In the previous game, the team was given the option to choose between the two pitches, which had not been watered for five days. They chose the drier of the two pitches, which made an immediate impact, and KKR won the match by 80 runs in the end.

KKR head coach Chandrakant Pandit and vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer said that as a side, they are comfortable enough to play on any surface. KKR mentor Dwayne Bravo also said that they are well prepared to take on any surface and that the better team will win at the end of the day.

"For me, the team who plays the best on the day will win. So, whether the pitch is slow, whether it's turning, whether it's not turning, my advice to the players will always be to make the necessary assessments, and play according to the conditions" " Bravo had said ahead of the game against SRH.

KKR has already lost three out of their first five games of the season. They are placed sixth on the points table as of now. In their title-winning season in 2024 under Gautam Gambhir's mentorship, KKR had lost just three games in their season overall.
