Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj Singh, known not to mince words made a shocking revelation on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma. Yuvraj, who is the mentor of the opening batter has often been credited for Abhishek's success at the international level and in the IPL. However, Yograj said that it was his son who brought discipline into the young opening batter.
Abhishek has been in the limelight ever since he had a breakthrough IPL 2024 season for SRH last year. The southpaw in this edition also smashed 141 runs off 55 balls against PBKS to help SRH chase a total in excess of 200 runs easily.

Speaking about Yuvraj's influence on Abhishek in an interview with Cricket Next, the senior Singh said:
"Late night parties... girlfriend. What happened then? Yuvraj said, ‘Lock him. ’ He came under Yuvraj Singh's wings as his father couldn't handle him. Yuvi shouted, 'Where are you?'. I heard him shout. 'It's 9 pm, go to bed. Do you understand me? I am coming.' He then handed over the phone and went to bed. Yuvi then told his father to wake him up at 5 am."
Yograj Singh lavishes praise on Yuvraj for bringing the best of Abhishek Sharma
Yograj further stated that if Abhishek Sharma had gone into the wrong hands of a spade, it would have been a disaster in the making. Yograj said that the SRH opener would not have lived up to the high hopes of Indian experts and fans had Yuvraj Singh not guided him.
"When the diamond lands into the hands of another diamond, what becomes of it? It turns into Kohinoor, and that's what happened with Abhishek Sharma. If this diamond had gone into the wrong hands of a spade, it would have broken and scattered. Many players in India broke and scattered," said Yograj (Via the aforementioned source).
