New Zealand will face off against South Africa in match 5 of the ongoing Zimbabwe T20 Tri-series on Tuesday, July 22. The hosts, Zimbabwe, are already out of the running for the final, having suffered three losses. New Zealand is leading the points table, having won all three of its games. They are the only team not to have tasted defeat. Meanwhile, South Africa has suffered one loss against the Kiwis.
With these two teams set to meet in the final clash on Sunday, July 27, the Proteas would be hoping to beat the Kiwis today and gain momentum ahead of the final match. To be fair to the African nation, despite sending a second-string side for the tri-series, a lot of youngsters have grabbed their opportunities with both hands. Dewald Brevis, Rubin Hermann, and Corbin Bosch have played starring roles in the team's victories in two games.

New Zealand has also not played a full-strength squad, but the new players have risen to the challenge. Bevon Jacobs and Jacob Duffy have been two standout young stars for the Kiwis. Also, some senior players, like Devon Conway, Matt Henry, and Santner, have performed well. New Zealand is always known to punch above its weight, even with limited resources. This time also, it's been no different.
For South Africa, the batting has been a bit inconsistent. While on song, their batters have looked ruthless, but in the loss against New Zealand, none of the batters took ownership to seal the run chase. Barring Brevis, the rest of the batters have not shown consistency. Hermann has looked solid, but his performance against New Zealand today will determine whether he can play classy knocks against top teams, too. In the bowling, Nandre Burger, Lungi Ngidi, and Bosch have looked solid and have chipped in with regular wickets.
It will be a battle between New Zealand's bowlers vs Proteas batters. How the experienced NZ bowling attack poses pressure to the inexperienced South African batting attack will determine which way the match will swing.
