The tournament is all set to make a return under a new name which previously was named as the Champions league T20. The league is all set to see the best T20 teams from all over the world compete for the much-coveted WCC title.

NO PCB, PSL Official Showed Up At World Cricket Connects Meeting
Meanwhile, what comes as a massive news is that the league might not feature teams from the Indian Premier League (IPL) or the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
At the World Cricket Connects 2025 meeting last month, the upcoming project was discussed. CEO's of various franchise T20 leagues were invited. However, no officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) or the PSL leagues were present.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board was invited to send its CEO of the PSL for a meeting held on the sidelines of the Cricket Connect meeting in London last month but no one showed up. The PCB didn’t show up and strangely, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has also not regularly attended ICC meetings,” sources told PTI.
There are also reports that IPL franchises might also not be allowed to take part in the competition. As per reports, only five teams are allowed to participate across the various T20 leagues and thus IPL and PSL teams might miss out.
“Discussions were held on the proposed World Clubs Championship, its window, format, schedule, etc. (The) CEOs of the Emirates League, Big Bash League, The Hundred, SA20, MLC, Caribbean Premier League, etc., attended the meeting. Though the planned event has the backing of the Indian board, for the inaugural championship there will be no IPL participation,” the source added.
