Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar expressed his condolences and condemned the actions of the terrorists.
"I send my condolences to all the families who have lost their loved ones. This has affected all of us Indians. I just want to ask a question to all the perpetrators and those who back them (the terrorists), their handlers—what has all this fighting achieved? For the last 78 years, not one millimeter of land has exchanged hands, has it? So for the next 78,000 years, nothing is going to change. Why don’t we live in peace instead and make our country strong? That is my appeal," Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

During the IPL match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians, both players and fans paid their respects to the victims and their families in a silent protest.
